The Swedish Ice Hockey Association and Sportway have agreed to extend their joint ownership and collaboration around Svensk Hockey TV for another five years. The new agreement will run through 2030, reaffirming both parties’ long-term commitment to advancing Swedish ice hockey through digital innovation and increased accessibility.
The 2024/2025 season has been the most successful to date for Svensk Hockey TV. The platform, which streams hockey from all levels across Sweden – from youth leagues and local tournaments to elite competitions – has experienced significant growth in both reach and usage. With more than 300 arenas now equipped with automated, AI-powered camera systems, the service attracted over 2.5 million unique viewers and generated more than 7 million stream starts, firmly establishing itself as a cornerstone of the Swedish hockey experience.
“Svensk Hockey TV plays an important role in our mission to boost the popularity of Swedish ice hockey nationwide. Enabling fans to follow games digitally – no matter where they are – helps bring them closer to the sport while also attracting new players and supporters. We’re pleased to extend our collaboration with Sportway around this valuable service,” says Christer Plars, Secretary General of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.
The platform has also contributed to modernizing the game on several fronts. For instance, more and more teams are now using the Team Account coaching tool for video analysis and development – with usage increasing by over 65 percent compared to the previous season.
“We’re incredibly proud of the growth and progress we’ve seen in recent years. This extended partnership with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association is clear proof that our joint investment is working and that we have a solid foundation to continue building on. We look forward to further developing the service – for the benefit of players, coaches, and fans alike,” says William Personne, CEO of Sportway Sweden.
This renewed agreement marks the next chapter in the long-term digital strategy shared by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and Sportway. The ambition is clear: to make Swedish ice hockey more accessible, more engaging, and stronger than ever – both on the ice and on the screen.
